宪法日 or Citizenship Day is a federally recognized holiday in the United States — recognizing the adoption of the U.S. 宪法 and those who have become American citizens by birth or naturalization. The holiday is typically observed on Sept. 17 — the day in 1787 that 39 delegates of the 宪法al Convention signed the document in Philadelphia, 宾西法尼亚, 在独立厅.
All institutions receiving federal funding, including funding through the U.S. Department of Education, are required to hold an educational program pertaining to the U.S. 宪法 each year (or in the preceding or following week if the date falls on a Saturday, 星期日或假日).
